GFA President Kurt Okraku Hosts DopeNation Ahead of Ghana’s 2026 World Cup Preparations ‎

‎President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, welcomed popular Ghanaian music duo DopeNation to his office in Accra during a courtesy visit ahead of Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

According to Mr. Okraku, discussions during the meeting focused on the powerful connection between football and music, and how both sectors can work together to inspire national unity, rally support for the Black Stars, and promote Ghana positively on the global stage ahead of the tournament.

The GFA President expressed appreciation to twin brothers Micheal and Tony Boafo for the visit and praised their creativity, energy, and growing international appeal, noting that their involvement presents exciting opportunities for collaboration as Ghana builds momentum toward the Mundial.

Mr. Okraku also described the road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup as one that promises to be special, adding that it would be a “Kakalika FIFA World Cup” for Ghana and the rest of the world.

‎The Chief Executive Officer of Sankara National FC, Alhaji Baba Daney, has taken time off his busy schedule in Canada to visit the world-famous Niagara Falls during his participation in the Global Economic Diversification Summit in Edmonton, Alberta.

‎The visit was made public through a post shared on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

According to Alhaji Baba Daney, the trip to Niagara Falls formed part of activities on the sidelines of the summit, which has brought together business leaders, policymakers, investors, and development stakeholders from across the globe to discuss economic growth, investment opportunities, and sustainable development initiatives.

‎“On the sidelines of our schedules in Canada 🇨🇦, we visited Niagara Falls in Ontario, Toronto. It is the world’s most famous waterfalls and sits right on the border between Canada and the USA. These two countries are separated by the river and bridge behind me,” he shared on Facebook.

Niagara Falls remains one of the most visited tourist attractions in North America, attracting millions of visitors annually due to its breathtaking scenery and historical significance.

‎The natural wonder lies between Ontario in Canada and New York in the United States.

Black Stars Handed Tough 2027 AFCON Qualifying Group

‎Ghana national football team have been placed in Group C for the qualifiers of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, where they will face regional rivals Ivory Coast national football team, alongside Gambia national football team and Somalia national football team.

‎The draw sets up an exciting qualification campaign for Ghana as the four-time African champions aim to secure a return to the continent’s biggest football competition after failing to qualify for the previous edition in Morocco.

‎The 2027 AFCON tournament will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, with the finals scheduled to run from June 10 to July 17, 2027.

‎In total, 48 nations have been drawn into 12 groups of four teams each, with the top two teams from every group advancing to the 24-team tournament.

‎Although the three host countries already have automatic qualification for the finals, they will still participate in the qualifying series, adding an extra layer of competition to the campaign.

‎According to the Confederation of African Football, the qualifiers will be played across three international windows: September 21 to October 6, November 9 to 17, and March 22 to 30 next year. Each team is expected to play two matches during every window.

‎Ghana’s Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Education and Cambridge Education at the ongoing Education World Forum in the United Kingdom.

‎The agreement, made public through the Minister’s official Facebook page on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, is aimed at supporting Ghana’s ongoing education reform agenda through strategic collaboration and technical assistance.

‎According to the Minister, the partnership will provide a clear and practical framework for cooperation in key areas including system analysis, curriculum and assessment strengthening, teacher professional development, as well as the integration of crosscutting priorities such as climate education and artificial intelligence into Ghana’s education system.

‎The MoU is expected to further deepen efforts to modernize education delivery in Ghana and equip learners with skills relevant to the future global economy.
