Sankara Nationals CEO Alhaji Baba Osman Daney Tours FC Andorra in Spain

The Chief Executive Officer of Yendi-based Sankara Nationals FC, Alhaji Baba Osman Daney, has visited FC Andorra’s training facilities at Gimnàstic Parc in Manresa, Barcelona, Catalonia, as part of efforts to explore opportunities for football development and talent advancement.

According to Alhaji Baba Osman Daney, the visit forms part of exploratory engagements with established players within the football industry, with a focus on identifying opportunities that could contribute to the development of young football talents in Ghana.

He said the broader objective is to create pathways and opportunities for emerging Ghanaian talents to develop their abilities and gain exposure within the international football environment, while keeping Sankarayili at the heart of the initiative.

The engagement comes at an important period for Sankara Nationals FC, who are preparing to begin their 2026/2027 UMB Division One League campaign.

The Yendi-based side will open their league account against RTU on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Yendi Youth Resource Centre.

The encounter is expected to mark the beginning of Sankara Nationals’ latest campaign as they seek a strong start to the new season.

With the club’s leadership simultaneously exploring international football development opportunities, the engagements in Spain could form part of a broader vision to strengthen the club’s contribution to youth development and create greater opportunities for young footballers in the region and Ghana.

‎Regent of Dagbon Kampakoya Naa Blesses Sankara Nationals FC Ahead Of RTU Clash

‎The Regent of the Dagbon Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Kampakuya Naa Yakubu Abukari, has assured Sankara Nationals FC of the Kingdom support as the club prepares for the 2026/27 football season.



‎His Royal Majesty gave the assurance when the leadership, technical team and playing body of Sankara Nationals FC on Tuesday 15th September 2026, paid a courtesy visit to him at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi.

‎The visit formed part of the club’s preparations for the upcoming season and was intended to formally introduce the team to the Regent while seeking his fatherly guidance, blessings and support ahead of the campaign.



‎During the visit, the delegation entrusted the club and its activities into the care of the Regent, reaffirming the strong relationship between Sankara Nationals FC and the Dagbon Traditional Kingdom.



‎The club has a longstanding historical connection with the Dagbon Kingdom, with the late Ya-Naa Abukari II having served as the Life Patron of Sankara Nationals FC. The club said the legacy of the late Ya-Naa remains an important part of its identity and continues to be held in high esteem.



‎As part of the visit, Sankara Nationals FC presented a replica club jersey to His Royal Majesty. The jersey was presented to Regent on behalf of the team, by the team Manager Mr. Mohammed Abdul Rahaman.



‎The Regent expressed his gratitude at the visit and welcomed the club’s delegation to the Gbewaa Palace. He assured the team of his support and pledged to assist the club in various way.

‎Management of Sankara Nationals FC expressed gratitude to His Royal Majesty for the warm reception, fatherly counsel and assurance of support.



‎The club believes the visit has further strengthened its bond with the Dagbon Traditional Kingdom and will inspire the team as it begins its preparations for the new season.

‎Sankara Nationals FC will be hoping to translate the goodwill and support into a successful campaign as the club continues its quest for growth and development in Ghanaian football.

Kumbungu DCE Pledges 20 Footballs and Modern Astro Turf

The District Chief Executive for Kumbungu, Honourable Imoro Yakubu Kakpagu, has pledged to provide 20 footballs to the 20 clubs that participated in the 2026 Damba Unity Games.
The pledge was made during the closing ceremony of the Damba Unity Games held at the Kumbungu Senior High School.

According to the DCE, each of the 20 participating clubs will receive a football as part of efforts to support the development of football and provide teams with the basic equipment needed for training and competition.
Hon. Kakpagu also announced plans to provide the people of Kumbungu with a modern standard AstroTurf, describing the facility as an important investment in the development of sports and young talents in the district.

He said the proposed AstroTurf would create a better environment for football development and provide young people, including female footballers, with improved opportunities to develop their talents.
The DCE commended the organisers, participating clubs, players and stakeholders for bringing the Damba Unity Games to a successful conclusion.

The 2026 Damba Unity Games, which brought together 20 women’s football clubs, ran from 6th to 13th September at Kumbungu Senior High School, with the competition aimed at promoting unity, peace, talent development and women’s football in the Northern Region.

Naa Yab’ Kumbun Naa Supports 2026 Damba Unity Games with GH¢10,000

Naa Yab Kumbun Naa has supported the 2026 Damba Unity Games with GH¢10,000 to promote unity, peace and development among women football clubs in the Northern Region.

The donation was disclosed by the Chairman of the Northern Regional Women’s Football Clubs Association, Andani Awee, during the closing ceremony of the Damba Unity Games held at the Kumbungu Senior High School.

The games, which brought together women’s football clubs and stakeholders, were held from 6th to 13th September 2026.

Chairman Andani Awee expressed appreciation to Naa Yab Kumbun Naa for the financial support, describing it as an important contribution towards the success of the competition and the development of women’s football in the region.

He said the support demonstrated the commitment of traditional authorities and other stakeholders to using sports as a platform to promote unity, peaceful coexistence and opportunities for young people, particularly women and girls.

Mr. Andani Awee also commended all participating clubs, players, officials, sponsors, traditional leaders and supporters for their contributions towards the successful organisation of the games.

He urged stakeholders to continue supporting women’s football, stressing that sustained investment was necessary to create opportunities for young female footballers to develop their talents and pursue careers in the sport.
